I had the extraordinary privilege of working with Dr. Smith during my (almost) three years as a medicine resident at St. Vincent’s. Her great grace, humility, compassion and love will always be an example to me of the kind of physician and person I can only hope to become. Her life is an inspiration to all of us who worked with her. My sincere condolences to her family on the loss of this amazing woman. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was one of Dr. Smith’s residents. Through tough times and good, she was a gentle, calming influence and an amazing example to us all. She is a great loss to the world and her family are in my thoughts every day.

I am so saddened by Maggie’s passing and offer my heartfelt sympathy and prayers to her family and all those who loved her. She was a wonderful person, doctor and program director. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

The family of Nan Dennis Smith has my deepest sympathy. We attended Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Pittsburgh together many years ago. Nan was the most delightful, caring person and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her. We had our class of 1957 reunion a few years back and although she could not attend, she wrote a wonderful bio which was included in our booklet. She was the president of our senior class and all of us will treasure our memories of her. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

May God be with you,
Francie Dinnin

I am writing on behalf of some of the students here at New York Medical College. They are working on the next edition of the year book and would like to add a tribute to Dr. Smith. Is there any chance of you granting permission to use some of your photos?

Dear Mars: I was thinking about you last night while driving through Wellesley and then found this website. Just wanted to send you a huge hug in Heaven. I remember our bike rides, tennis games, Friday night jaunts to Howard Johnson’s in Welkesley for fried clams and many, many sleepovers. You were my treasured adolescent friend and I can still feel the pain in my gut when you called to say that your family was moving to PA. I can see from these pages the remarkable woman you became. You always were extremely special to me. Love, Helen
