Mom had the crispy/thin thing down cold when it came to cookies. I am pretty sure that she tweaked the sugar ratios a bit – favoring granulated sugar over brown sugar (so try something like 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar). You might also want to go “light” on the flour too…

I just wanted to say thank you for posting this and the rest of the website. I do research into injury biomechanics focused on aircraft crash survivability. While Dr. Smith and the Fergusons are not part of that research, this reminds me of why I decided to pursue the work I do which was because I have lost friends and colleagues in crashes before. It is important that their loss is remembered and that as much good as possible can come out of what was a horrible and tragic event. I am going to get the ingredients listed and make a batch of cookies in honor of Dr. Smith and the Fergusons and share it with my friends, family and coworkers. I hope you don’t mind my posting this or enjoying the recipe.

All the best to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Thanks, Stephen. This is the kind of outlook that my mom would have loved. Thanks for sharing her recipe!
